Review Loft
Privacy Policy
Effective October 27, 2026
The short version:
- We collect what you give us to run the app: your email to sign in, your profile, and the reviews, lists and comments you post.
- Your reviews are meant to be shared. You choose whether everyone can see them or only people you approve.
- No ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, no analytics tools, and we never sell your data.
- Email hello@reviewloft.app to get a copy of your data or delete your account.
Who we are
Review Loft is an app for rating and sharing the movies, TV shows, books and games you enjoy. It's run by Review Loft LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Review Loft app (iPhone and web, at app.reviewloft.app) and this website.
What we collect
Things you give us

Things collected automatically
- Sign-in session: a token stored on your device so you stay signed in.
- Small preferences on your device: for example, which tips you've dismissed. These stay on your device.
- Notification settings and devices: if you turn on notifications, we store which kinds you want and a push address for each device you enable, so we can send them. Turn them off in the app and the device is removed.
- AI feature usage: a daily count of how many times you've used the AI features, to enforce the daily limit.
- Server logs: our hosting providers keep standard logs (such as IP address, device type and time of request) to run and secure the service.
We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking tools, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Who can see what
- Public profile (the default): anyone using Review Loft can see your profile, reviews, Top 10s, Loft Lists and "Now".
- Friends only: switch this on in Edit Profile, and only people you've approved can see your reviews, Top 10s, Loft Lists and "Now". This is enforced by our database, not just hidden in the app.
- Likes and comments can be seen by anyone who can see the review or list they're on.
- Recommendations are private between you and the person you sent them to.
- Up Next is private to you.
- Your username, display name and profile photo are always visible, so people can find and follow you.
- Your sign-in email is never shown to anyone.
Services we use
We share data only with the companies that help us run Review Loft, and only what each one needs:
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and profile photos.
- Netlify serves the web app and this website, and Expo builds and distributes the iPhone app and delivers notifications to it.
- Anthropic powers our optional AI features. When you ask Review Loft to polish a review, the text you wrote is sent to Anthropic along with the title and your star rating, to suggest an edit. When you ask for list suggestions, your list's name, its description and the titles already on it are sent. We don't send your email or other account details.
- TMDB, Google Books, IGDB, Apple Music and The New York Times supply movie, TV, book and game information. Your searches are sent to these services to find titles, but not your identity.
We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete any review, comment or list yourself at any time. To delete your whole account and everything in it, email hello@reviewloft.app from the address you sign in with, and we'll do it within 30 days. Some copies may remain in backups for a short time before they're overwritten.
You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, at the same address.
Children
Review Loft isn't for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children under that age. If you think a child has an account, email us and we'll remove it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and access is restricted by database rules that limit each person to what they're allowed to see. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your data, or to object to how we use it. Email hello@reviewloft.app and we'll help. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll let you know in the app.
